To our valued customers,
As we approach the halfway point of 2019 and the height of our busy season, we have many thanks to send to you. Thank you all for your continued support by putting local food as a priority in your stores, restaurants and kitchen tables. We’re fortunate that we have been busy all winter growing for you and that local greens can be available through sleet and snow! Last week was our biggest week ever and we are so grateful to all of you for loving our food and sharing it with our community.
All greens, herbs, beans and cucumbers are harvested as you order so your produce is delivered to you as fresh as possible. This requires a great deal of planning, organization and physical work in a short period of time. We begin harvesting on Monday morning with a short window of time to harvest, package, label check and deliver to our Kingston customers Tuesday afternoon and our Ottawa customers on Thursday morning.
While our number of customers and their order sizes both increase, we’re finding that it’s of great benefit to us (and to you!) when orders are submitted over the weekend or first thing Monday morning so that we have a clear picture of our entire volume of harvesting for the week’s orders. The benefit to you is that we are much more likely to be able to fill every item you have requested on your order! When orders are placed late, we often have a difficult time completing them both for lack of time and product.
Another way to make your ordering and our harvesting more streamlined is by placing your order online! That way you can see what is available that week and maybe see some items you’d love to try that you might not know we carry. An availability list is sent out normally Saturday afternoon that will have a quick and easy link to the ordering page. Thank you to all of you who have been using our online system for placing your orders and for giving us feedback if something is unclear or not working with the website. It really is a great help to us.
If you’re someone who has not used our online ordering system before and you need a bit of guidance, please let us know and we’d be happy to walk you through the process. And if you haven’t been receiving our availability list, please send us an email and we will fix that right away!
