Brian’s Thoughts

Keep your benches full

  • Empty benches are bad

Keep benches attractive

  • Plants that are in bad shape need replacement
  • Keep balanced mix of plants in bloom and not in bloom

Order plants based on the information available to you:

  • Plants on the benches compared to plants previously delivered (indicates rate of sale)
  • Plants on site now combined with plants “on the road” to you (provides basis for forecasting new requirement)
  • Check frequently for newly available plants that you have not yet ordered

Change your display frequently to create/maintain customer interest

Keep all of your plants organized in a way that enables you to order efficiently and systematically

  • In practice, this means: grouped by annual and perennial and within those

o   Grouped by pot size, and then

§  Sorted alphabetically

(When placing an order, you can immediately see, for example, what you have in annual 1540s, see what is available from Odessa in annual 1540s and thereby know what to order)

DO NOT ORDER MORE PLANTS THAN YOU HAVE ROOM FOR
